Wake Up! is a young & exciting new initiative of the medical students of Newcastle University. We seek to inspire, educate and equip Newcastle medical students to be active in developing world health (which includes rural and remote Australia), now and throughout their careers.
Our function in 2-fold:
1. To raise awareness among students of developing world health issues through seminars, speaker nights & other awareness raising activities
2. To campaign for health & human rights issues , and also to conduct aid projects aimed at making a positive contribution to developing world health
We are linked to other such groups throughout the medical schools of Australia by the Internation Health Network(IHN), that allows students nation wide to communicate about health in the developing world
